The last year of my life has been really difficult. I’ve lost a majority of my friends, I was diagnosed with a mild case of depression and I recently found out that my mom has cancer. Through all these tough times though, there’s been one thing that’s always been there to make things better and keep me going. Pop punk. I know it’s just a genre of music, but to me it’s an avenue of escape. Just hearing a song from Set Your Goals or The Wonder Years automatically gives me chills and makes me feel better about myself. Especially Set Your Goals. They have helped me through more than you could imagine. They were there for me when no one else was. They have stopped me from suicide attempts and self mutilation.  Without them, I honestly don’t think I would be alive. As cliché as that sounds, it’s true. I love that band more than most things and I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done for me.
